Versatility Tool Works and Manufacturing Company is an Illinois sheet metal fabricator located in Alsip, a suburb of Chicago. Established in 1972, Versatility Tool Works specializes in precision sheet metal parts and assemblies. Services include: laser cutting, precision sheet metal fabrication, stamping, electronic assembly and testing, engineering, robotic welding, hardware insertion, fulfillment, and tooling and machining.
Versatility Tool Works has a US Patent for its innovative QStep® Process! QStep focuses on combining customer collaboration with Versatility’s advanced manufacturing technology, engineering expertise, and fulfillment programs. The fulfillment program offers a number of options including vendor managed inventory, Kanban, hold for release, and other JIT based systems.
QStep® Process
The trademarked QStep Process is a 5 step process that provides our customers with a clear, competitive advantage by positively impacting quality, cost, and delivery. Our engineers engage the customer at the earliest stages of the design cycle, offering suggestions on material type, heat treatment, mechanical design, and tooling constraints. After a preliminary design is agreed upon, prototypes are fabricated and tested. Often times, two or three product iterations are tested to achieve the desired results. The result is a design that achieves optimal balance between function and tooling and considers production expense for the customer.
QStep Benefits:
Gain Expert Tooling and Sheet Metal Engineers as Business Partners
Responsive: Engineer-to-Engineer Communication
Improve Quality and Product Performance
Reduce Product Obsolescence
Accelerate Time to Market
Eliminate Inventory
Achieve Lowest Overall Project Cost
The QStep® Process, along with Versatility’s engineering expertise and its state-of-the-art manufacturing, has provided its customers with extraordinary results by reducing cost, improving quality, compressing lead times, and enhancing product performance.
Versatility’s facility includes automated, ""lights out"" blanking systems which provide seamless process integration between laser and punching operations of materials up to 1/4"" thick. Innovative features include: integrated hole tapping; die lift stations to minimize scratching during forming; an automated parts remover; and an automated sheet loading system. These capabilities not only provide a fast track from print to product, but also eliminate many costly secondary operations.
