Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) and Plasma/Ion nitriding services for protection against Erosion, Abrasion, Galling, Friction, Corrosion and Fretting Wear as well as improved fatigue properties. PVD coatings can be deposited at high and low temperatures allowing customers to select a wide variety of substrates for the process. Nitriding and carbonitriding is available in standard case depths as well as a deep case process. A wide selection of PVD coatings are available including Titanium Nitride (TiN), Titanium Carbonitride (TiCN), Aluminum Titanium Nitride (AlTiN), Chromium Nitride CrN), Chromium Carbide (CrC), Zirconium Nitride (ZrN) and Diamond Like Carbon (DLC).

NCT can tailor one of our standard PVD coatings to meet your needs or develop a custom film for your application. Plasma nitriding can be used for demanding applications where components require a case hardened layer to combat the wear and improve the fatigue life of the component. A duplex process combining the PVD coating process and the plasma nitriding process is also available where the substrate does not have sufficient core hardness to support the PVD coating. The PVD coating process is a good alternative to the electroplating process providing a more uniform coating, improved adhesion and a wider selection of coatings available.
