    Wire Dispensers. Fine wire (defined as smaller than .050”/1.25mm in diameter) has more critical handling issues to contend with due to the nature of material mass and size than other larger wire sizes. Fine wire is usually supplied in spool form weighing less than 50 lbs. In many applications the use of precious metals smaller than .050” diameter are used to make a large variety of parts. The payoff of such fine, precious, and many times “soft” or low tensile materials can easily cause the wire to snap or stretch due an improper payout method, path, or resistance levels. The straightening of fine wire can be hampered by not having the proper degree of back tension and direct travel path to the straightening device. The TAK FWPO (fine wire payoff) provides those features and several others. The TAK model FWPO unit has several features that ensure that these wire types and sizes are paid off under precise control to almost eliminate the possibility of breaking the wire. Medium wire (usually larger than .050” / 1.25mm in diameter) and Heavy wire (usually larger than .250” / 6.25mm in diameter) usually consists of stronger materials with higher tensile values which can accommodate a much more “rugged” method of handling and needing less delicate controls. Medium & heavy duty wire may be supplied in Spools, Coils, Reels, and Bars. Coils and Reels can sometimes weigh several thousand pounds.

    The TAK line of feed drives address the needs of a number of applications where control and feeding of linear materials like strip, wire, and tubing is critical. The availability of the three styles indicated above and a number of control and software package options also offered by TAK allows us the ability to resolve many application necessities with just the right combination of components. TAK offers these packages to end users who have the internal resources and ability to combine standard hardware items to build a machine or enhance an existing production line. They are also available to system integrators who may be fabricating a special system but do not have the level of expertise to build components to accurately move and control linear materials. A spring coiled right on the assembly line can save all the cost associated with purchasing, shipping, storing, inspection, separating, and feeding the spring. This is accomplished by the employment of one of the several coiling systems offered by Colombi, which not only makes the spring, but will inspect it, load test it, heat treat it, and then deliver it in an oriented fashion directly to the assembly point on command.
