Catalytic Oxidizers are a good control option in applications that have consistent Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). These systems incorporate a catalyst bed along with a thermal oxidizer. Utilizing a catalyst causes the oxidation of VOCs to occur at much lower temperatures and translates into significantly lower fuel costs—usually between 40-60%- and longer equipment life. A Recuperative Catalytic Oxidizer, which adds a heat exchanger, provides even greater energy savings. Some of the more common industrial applications using Catalytic Oxidizers include Chemical & Petrochemical, Bakeries, Coating and Laminating, Coffee Roasters, Ethylene Oxide (EO or ETO) Sterilization, Medical Sterilization, Odor Control, and Pharmaceutical.

Pollution Systems offers Chemical Scrubbers, aka Gas Scrubbers, that are efficiently and effectively designed to remove gas pollutants. Often these pollutants are chemicals such as ammonia, chlorine or sulfur compounds. Chemical Scrubbers work by dissolving or absorbing the pollutant into the scrubbing liquid. The scrubbing liquid used will depend on the properties of the targeted pollutant. A Venturi Scrubber is a wet scrubber that effectively removes particulate matter (PM) from industrial exhaust streams by incorporating a Venturi throat. Air Pollution Control using Thermal Oxidizers, also referenced as fume incinerators, is appropriate in many process applications including processes where particulate may be present or with higher concentrations of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Recuperative Thermal Oxidizers incorporate a heat exchanger with a combustion chamber and can handle a wide range of process flow rates and VOC concentrations. The heat exchanger is used to preheat the VOC laden air prior to entering the combustion chamber to reduce operating cost. Destruction efficiency is typically in excess of 99%.
